In a deserted barn in Cambridgeshire, the volunteers have been beavering away on this year's RSPB extravaganza to take to Gardeners World Live. And I've just received the latest photos to tantalise me.

You may recall our theme on our large 'feature' stand this year is the Swallows' mind-boggling migration from South Africa (here's my first blog on it), and all the gardens and plants they pass by on the way.

Here artist volunteer Ken and events project manager Abbi put in some last minute detail to the Alhambra Palace.

Volunteer Carol puts some dedication into finishing the Spanish tiles.

African wildlife comes alive in the background.

Look at this for an amazing bird bath.

The Swallows' route gets plotted across continents and oceans.

And here is everything bagged and boxed up ready for the journey to Birmingham.

And just two magic ingredients to go: the plants that the volunteers have all been growing in peat free compost. And you!

Gardeners World Live is at the NEC in Birmingham, and runs from 13-17 June.

I'll be there on Thurs 14th (including a stint on the Ask the Expert stage), and every day there'll be loads of good folk from the RSPB to chat to. Hope to see you there...
