Here it comes, the big one for the RSPB on the gardening calendar. We go to Chelsea, we go to Hampton Court, but Gardeners World Live (12-16 June) at the NEC in Birmingham is the one where we put on a show.

We don't do one of the big-dosh show gardens, but we do what is called a feature garden - it's all on a shoestring budget and is thanks to lots of brilliant volunteer support, but it is a massive undertaking. And it is a show that lots of RSPB members visit, and its lovely to have so many people come up and say hi to us on the stand - and bring their wildlife gardening experiences and queries too.

What I've designed for the show this year is...no, on second thoughts, let me just show you some of the props the volunteers have made, and then next week I hope to be able to bring you photos of the finished thing, and why we hope it will inspire lots more people to do wonderful things in their garden for wildlife, which is what it's all about.

We have what has been dubbed 'The Tardis'

We have some beautiful bird models whittled out of wood

We have some very big shapes made out of logs

And we have this, which I'll leave you to ponder over

And right now I'm on the road to The Lodge with yet another load of plants to put on the two lorries heading for the show. And we then have just Monday and Tuesday to put it all together before the whole thing starts on Wednesday.

So I must dash - my plants are calling. And I dearly hope to see you at the NEC to see the finished thing in action.
