I had the chance to spend a bit of time in the garden today, starting to dig a new border in the winter sunshine. I was not alone for long!

I can't tell you how much I love my Robins, so I'm just going to have to share my affection for them in some of today's photos instead.

The thing is, most of the birds that visit my garden come and go, spending a bit of time here before flitting off to other gardens. But not my Robins. They're loyal; they are MY Robins!

The pair at the front of the house, which do indeed seem paired up already, are especially tame. They often indulge in a bit of soft subsong when they see me, just for me.

But it is the sound of them in full song that is the ultimate winter joy, with often three or four perched up in their respective territories, proclaiming their ownership of their particular part of the garden.

So no lengthy story in the blog today; no abiding moral. Just sheer Robin indulgence that I hope brings you some of the joy it does me.
