Hi to days ago I freed a pigeon that was stuck in the summer house in garden. it sat on lawn all afternoon and then went. It keeps comming back and sitting in bushes (scarey as we have a cat) but it is all "puffed up" a friend has said this means it is ill? As I know nothing about pigeons can anyone give advice? should I rescue it and leave it overnight in catbox in summer house with food and water to re-coop? I am worried incase it has bashed its head and is disorientated.
what do you think? Today it was sat under a bush in pouring rain and wind all "puffed up"
Hi Jacque
First of all welcome to the forums.
I'm not an expert by any means but if you are worried about the cat getting it, it might be a good idea to put it in the summer house overnight, although it is dark now so you may have some trouble spotting it. If the bird is fluffed up then this could indicate that it is poorly. If you do manage to catch it, then make sure you wash your hands or even better put some gloves on before handling it. Some food and water would be good too. You could always see how it isin the morning.
I'm sure someone on here will be able to give you really good advice, if not the rspb staff who will see this thread.
Good luck, hope the poor little mite recovers.
Regards
Kerry

Oops! gremlins in the mix again, I didn't suggest my answer as the best - it just did that by itself when I posted my response!
Hi Jacque and welcome
I had pigeons for a number of years It may be just tied if it is puffed up,try giving it some bird seed if you have any and a drink of water and see what it it is like tomorrow, but try to keep it safe, hopefully it will seem better.Try to see if you can if it is injured. Good luck.
Hi eveyone and thank you for replying! well, i have put out lots of bird food, bread, milk, water and old fruit incase he comes back but have not seen him today. i'll keep you posted. Many thanks
