Hi All
We have a bird which comes to the feeder and it has something wrong with its face.I am not sure if I am allowed to put a photo of it on this website so people can see it and tell me what is wrong.
It looks like a growth or sore which covers one eye.
If I am allowed to post a photo I will.So if someone will say if its OK because I dont want to offend.
Thanks
Jane
Hi Jane,
Welcome to the forum! I think a photo is needed really for anyone to help.
Edit: ?????? I didn't suggest this post as the answer?? {scratch head} it was the only available option to reply!!
Edit again! OK, ignore that! It's gone now! :-}

Hi
Thanks for answering me.
I am worried that this might be something catching and that other birds might get it
Any ideas as to what it is?
Thanks Jane
Hi Jane and welcome from me also. Poor little bird - I honestly have no idea what it might be, hopefully someone else will know as it does look nasty (the affliction, not the bird).
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
That looks so sore... There is an article in this month's 'bird watching' magazine about birds with similar sores. I'll look it up and report back on what they say.
I'm sure someone from the RSPB will be able to help too!
Thank you both for your help.
It will be nice to find out if we can help the poor little bird
You are already helping him greatly by providing food & water which might be otherwise too hard to find for him...
Welcome too from me.
Poor little mite it certainly looks sore. I hope you find an answer soon as to what it is - you won't have to wait long as there are so many who can help you on here.
Good luck!
Regards
Kerry

OK, I have scanned the section about 'lesions' from the magazine. Hope I'm not breaking any rules here but as they are asking for anyone to let them know of any birds seen like it, this can only be helpful (I hope). [Note that the lesions were seeming to affect great tits only, until another reader sent in a photo of a dunnock...]. Would be interesting to know where you are based Jane (roughly)
HI
I dont think the scan worked. I cant see it. If you tell me the edition of the magazine I will go & buy one.
I am based nr Gatwick in Surrey
I think I have another great tit with a similar thing on its wing
Thanks for your help
