Hello. We have recently had to make repairs to our old house after storm damage, replacing soffits and fascia’s of the house. We did this with our beloved swift friends at the forefront of our minds and made extensive efforts to keep crevices exposed to where we could guess where they entered after years of watching them.I am in tears as for days we have seen the calling and swooping the front of the house but haven’t seen them enter. They seem to try every day. I’m assuming that the original way they were getting in has changed, even though there is still accessibility I feelHelpless and I don’t know what to do to help. The house is a very tall stone house and I would be very willing to get someone to put up a swift box to help them asap but would they be interested? If feel as if I have deprived them of their own home for which they return year in and out.Can you offer any advice please? Should I put up a swift box urgently?Sent from my iPhone
Yes. If you are getting someone to do it, I would put up more than one if you can fit them. I would also get a box camera if finances allow. Ladder type nestboxes with vertical entrance are meant to be best in many areas, but my front loading ones work too.
Photo taken this morning. The individual wasn't one of the pair. Occupant was inside and keeping quiet at the time.
