I am at my wits end and need advice. A neighbour is feeding ducks on a grass verge of a road. The road is used by 11 houses so not busy but still has roads users users including delivery van driving passed. The ducks usually stayed by the local pond just 50yds from the grass verge where my neighbours feeds them. They are now so tame they sit in the road, don’t move when approached by cars, this is about 30 + birds. I have tried to talk to my neighbours to ask if she can feed them at the pond away from the road, but all I get is verbal abuse. I’ve contacted my council but there’s nothing they can do. I am worried about the ducks getting killed on the road, specially as it will soon be mating season
Personally, I think the best option, and possibly the only option, is to feed them earlier in the day yourself at a location you pick. Not sure what is being fed to the ducks, but bread isn't recommended. Plenty of options online and ducks aren't that fussy (assuming they're feral/domestic mallards).
Thank you, I came to the same conclusion, I’ve ordered duck food
Great minds. Good luck.
