There's a new bird settled in on Edinburgh Union Canal. I see him often sitting by the edge drying his wings. I think it's a cormorant, but it could also be a shag, as I am aware they look very similar. Can anyone ID?
Your bird is a Cormorant. Note the skin colour above the bill and in front of the eye. Shag don’t show this.
