Blackbird pellets?

I am new to the forum and certainly don't know as much about birds as I would like, but I got a photograph of a female blackbird yesterday who appeared to be disgorging a pellet similar to what a raptor would do - do blackbirds actually produce pellets or is she doing something else?

Thanks in advance for any information!

  • Hi Germannick and welcome to the community forum. What a lovely picture you have started off with. I am no expert but as I have several black birds in my garden and havent noticed any producing pellets, is possible she is just disecting looking for nesting material? Mines is very busy digging up everything and tearing lumps out of the pond plants for the best nesting materials.
