I have a moorhen in my garden pond. I don't mind it eating some of the weed but is it likely to be lost? It has been here nearly all day alternating between pond and garden table where it then proceeds to clean itself.
Are there stretches of water in your local area; ponds, streams, lakes, etc, ? People can get them in their gardens especially if they are close to more wetland type areas. Nice to see something a bit different in the garden and if you have any mealworms or seed I'm sure it would appreciate the food.
I will include another much older report of a Moorhen in someone's garden at the same time of year which may be interesting for you to read.
