I was digging the garden when this little chap flew down and started rumaging for insects & worms, so I put some seeds down for it aswell, it keeps coming back it is very alert in its manner. I`ve attached a picture for anyone ot confirm please..
Where did that one go!!!!
Hi Bunny
Welcome to the forum.
No it's not a dunnock it's a baby robin. They don't develop their red breast until later in the year. Insects, grubs and worms are its natural diet so that's why it was so interested in your digging activities

Welcome to the forum, what lovely photos of your baby robin - he/she's adorable, I can equally understand why you thought it might have been a dunnock they're really quite different compared to the adults.

Hi Bunny, welcome to the forum.
As TJ has suggested the bird is indeed a juvenile Robin.

If its no fun Yer no doin it right!
Hi again
As a postscript to this thread I tried to find a photo of a dunnock amongst my collection so that you can compare but I couldn't. The best I can do is this little video which I made a couple or so weeks ago I hope this will help with identification in the future. I can see why you thought it might have been a dunnock. They both have that rather streaky speckled look about them.
