Conservationists appalled by eagle death
Less we forget
Absolutely shocking, I do hope they catch those responsible.
Of all creatures, man is the most detestable, he is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~ Mark Twain
It sounds as though an attempt was made to conceal the location where the bird was trapped by moving it. If the bird hadn't been satellite tagged it may never have been discovered. When will these people ever learn to respect wildlife and stop using these illegal (?) traps. Shocking and disgraceful.

I cannot believe such inhumanity exists. I am appalled

Not sure that the hard core of rogue keepers/land owners will ever give up easily,it does to seem to be inbred in them, not sure what the answer is though stronger punishment may help some.We have a similar problem in our area of the Dales.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Just read about the news, it's disgusting and hopefully they will get the people who done this.

I'm not at all prone to violence, but in some cases I could make an exception!
I'm not renowned for being a BoP fan but this has sickened me. To move it like that knowing it would suffer a slow agonising death is absolutely despicable. If this person wasn't going to get help he should at least have put it out of its misery. They have a rough idea of where it was trapped so there can't be too many suspects. I wonder if they looked for any human DNA evidence...

In reply to both firstly KatyBirdy, I'm not prone to violence either but for anyone who treats a BoP like so deserves all they get. Debz Quote "If this person wasn't going to get help he should at least have put it out of its misery." IMO I agree putting any injured animal out of it's misery quickly & without further stress or pain is correct, but no doubt the perpetrator knowing full well what they're doing doesn't take this into account. Hopefully brought to account & soon.
I hope you have all written letters in reply to the copied information from Ian below, we can all complain but lets get together and make sure something is done:-
You may remember seeing a number of blog posts and forum discussions mentioning the Law Commission review, vicarious liability and the need to make sure that the laws that protect our wildlife are fit for purpose. Well now is your chance to make your feelings known as the law commission consultation is live. Please take the time to have a look at our web page linked below where we provide some guidance and all the details needed to submit your suggestions, you can email your comments to wildlife@lawcommission.gsi.gov.uk and please do so before 30 November 2012.

Please spare the few minutes required to do this as we have a real chance to make a difference here and it is vital for the future of our threatened species like the hen harrier in England. If you have any contributions to make that you would like to share on this thread to help spur on others to comment please feel free to share!
Thank you.
