As you may be aware, the Badger Trust recently lost its appeal against the judgment given by Lord Justice Ouseley in July in respect of the Judicial Review made against the Government’s decision to hold a pilot trial of the free-shooting of badgers in parts of Somerset and Gloucestershire. This is clearly not the outcome they were hoping for. Putting vaccines in food for badgers, as with any kind of medication, is difficult. Some badgers will get more or less than others, or none at all. Also, animals other than badgers may come along and eat it.

I do wonder whether the petition and scientists were listened to. If the BBC news is right the Badger cull was delayed because the NFU had written to the Minister asking him to do so!
Hopefully as Marjus said this gives a breathing space to find an answer that is agreed by all parties (but obviously not the badger)
Think the people causing disturbance to stop the cull(which I do understand)ignore the fact that we have to clear this disease for the Badgers sake as much as for any other reason.
I saw where dead Badgers when looked at for TB a figure of 25% had the disease,even if this was from a infected area it is a problem that needs a answer as eventually we have to have a clean population of Badgers and cattle.
If eventually we are going to vaccinate what is to be gained from waiting,providing of course we have a effective vaccine now,surely at least worth serious trials to test it.
