Currently on the new look RSPB website home page the main story is our campaign to get Chancellor George Osbourne to include the environment in the heart of the UK's economic recovery.
If you can spare a couple of minutes to help lobby George via our e-petition it would be much appreciated!
Best wishes

i was reading the sun newspaper recently and there was this article about ancient woodlands, that councils can exploit a loophole this is what the article says. more than 200 ancient woodlands could be destroyed due to a loophole in new planning laws, campainers warn. proposed rules, to be published in the next few weeks, say planning permission on vunerable sites will be given if " the benefits outweigh the loss ". the woodland trust claims 225 sites are under threat and has issued a last ditch plea to ministers for more protection.
it is disgusting that these laws can be made just like that to give an advantage to developers, these people should realise once nature and wildlife suffer then people will start to suffer. all this to build more houses because mass amounts of immigrants have been let into this country its time this was stopped for good as this is partly what is harming our enviroment. i will report this threat to our ancient woodlands to the united nations.
Hi. Ive just filled in the petition. It was so easy to do. Come on nature lovers, lets get to teh 15,000 mark .
That should read "lets get to the 15,000 mark". Sorry, brain going quicker than the fingers. lol
Signed up. I fear JohnNot the sloop and Skyblastomega1 share my pessimistic or cynical feelings. It seems the minute big business steps in most of these legislation is overrided.
Near us we have just had an equestrian centre started on a green space area as part of an Olympic legacy for Greenwich. I'd rather have the green space left as did many others but sadly we were dismissed in our attempts! The building work has started.
what i do not like is big bussiness city folk always using and abusing the countryside to their own selfish ends. remember decades ago how 2 welsh valleys were drowned to provide water for big cities now big business wants to cover vast areas of wales with wind turbines and hulking big turbines all to benefit big bussines and large cities. our politicians behave like dictators they forget who pays their wages, they should not be allowed to do what they want as they should be serving us not serving themselves
Hi Everyone, thank you for signing up, if you could pass the word on and get others involved that would be much appreciated. I have made this thread sticky until next week so it can be found easily!
