Seabird wrecks

The high winds and stormy seas over the last week or so have led to a number of reports of stranded seabirds inland including manx shearwaters and even a black guillemot. If you come across any seabird either looking exhausted on the beach or inland, please contact an animal rescue centre as they will probably need some assistance.

Hopefully the scale of the seabird wrecks will not be anywhere near as catastrophic as the ones encountered in New Zealand earlier this summer where hundreds of thousands of birds are feared to have perished, including large numbers of broad-billed prions, see the report here.
