Whatever anyone thinks, avian flu isn't leaving our shores anytime soon, like Covid.....

Gannets have been washing up around the Island ;( fishing and yachting crews are reporting birds out at sea. One of the small farms has culled all their chickens after 1/2 the flock died over night and I believe the various populations of feral chickens are going to be culled - people have a habit of dumping cockerels in various of the small woodlands around the Island www.alderneywildlife.org/.../HPAI_update_Media Release_for_UK_22082022 (1)_0.pdf

In my very limited experience, I fear as we get in to the migration months, it is only going to spread yet further. And that's on top of everything else to aid its spread.
Germain said:I agree Mike, for the water fowl it's also not helped by the drought - more birds are congregating at the limited water sources - seabirds are joining up with the geese flocks to bath and rest on the reservoirs. I'm holding a serious debate with myself about not putting out feeders - at the moment the don't feed side is winning but I'm not sure how I will feel in the depths of winter
It is a difficult decision, you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
