As for what I have locally, its all concrete and tarmac, well, apart from the garden and neighbouring gardens excepted.

Often I've had a similar scenario when visiting the reserves, which encourages me to look deeper, and often find a lot of other activity, particularly insects.
Even though nature may seen quiet some days, it is busy beavering away in others.
