Hi all,
I currently own a compact camera (Canon SX220 HS) and am happy with the results I am getting, I was just wondering what camera's and lenses you recommend as Hopefully I can upgrade to a DSLR, the Canon 550D has caught my eye and has been recommended but I was jsut wondering on your guys reviews due to you being more of experts in the field.
Thanks for any help provided
Lots of good advice on the forum if you do a search. Some of it is general but some is specific to a particular DSLR camera or lens. I use a Nikon D5100 camera and a Sigma 150-500mm lens which is a popular 'relatively cheap' lens option for bird photography. You can see some examples of my images in my Flickr account (link below) or in threads such as 'Luck and Patience'. Good luck with your research.

Great photos by the way I will have a look at that camera and lens. Thank you for the information.
Hi Munkey,
As Dave said, have a browse through the topics in the Gear Guide forum. There are dozens of threads about camera types. You'll find Gear Guide under the Chat Tab at the top of the page. This Community is hard to navigate, but to help us there is a forum map. You will find the link to this at the top of the main Community Home Page.
Cheers, Linda.

Thanks everyone I will have a look at the forum's I will be on a low budget so I think the 550D will be best for me plus the 75-300mm canon lens to get me started. Just out of curiosity what lenses does he use?
In reply to Munkey_Boy:
As a Nikon user I don't have personal experience of the Canon range but I suggest you read reviews for the 75-300mm and the 55-250mm lenses before making your mind up.
