The pochard was a nice find ILR, I have only seen them once at Pensthorpe in Norfolk. Your caterpillar might be a Garden Tiger Moth, I am sure you will get more suggestions. Nice to see all those chicks. Lovely selection of photo's.
Another place added to the ever growing "want to visit" list! Good job ILR, and thanks for sharing
Thanks Snappy I can always rely on you and a few others to reply to my photos. I had never heard of a Red Crested Pochard never mind seen one but so glad I did. Yes with regards the moorhen chicks I don't recall seeing them before, they are like a small bundle of fluff but lovely just the same. It was a good day to also see the Turnstone in its summer plumage. Its a shame some of the photos were not great where the subjects were a long way away but at least I got an Image.
How did you get on with the Marsh Harriers ?
Thanks PB Its one of the best Reserves for sightings, you will not be disappointed. 10 Mins away is Fairburn Ings Reserve as well. Let me know if you are coming anytime soon.
I think the 5 hour trip each way makes popping up on spec a very remote possibility ILR lol. We're up to Kielder Water for a week from Saturday, so depending how we're feeling during the journey we may make a pit stop somewhere
The reserve has a pair of Marsh Harrier, they came very close to the hide a couple of times. Probably some of the closest views I have had, I got a few... photo's
It will be interesting to see your photo's from Kielder Water PB, an area we have not been. Doesn't seem to be many roads around their

Did you miss some zeroes out there Snappy? lol
5 minute walk to the pub... that was the main draw lol. I'm booked on a boat trip to go Osprey viewing, so that should be good, never had decent look at an osprey, even thuogh they now breed down here
Yes
