Today I was out and about and had the fortune of photographing a Kestrel at close range I was shooting at shutter priority and the kestrel was hovering at different angles to myself and I never had one good photo
Should I have Increased my shutter speed to accomadate the bird hovering ? or can you advise otherwise ? I must admit I have not had this problem before but was gutted when I downloaded the photos to see they were all rubbish.
Hi ILR, the photo's are not showing for me, just the broken link symbol. it can be very frustrating when photo's don't turn out as you would want.
Try again Snappy
I think you did need a lot faster shutter speed to freeze the wings ILR. You will be able to see the speed the camera took the photo at in the Properties of the photo.
Hi Snappy I have just checked my settings and you are dead right, I had not been out for what seems ages due to a chest Infection and the bad weather
Senior moment ????????????????????????????????????????????? new secondhand camera and still getting to grips with it, now then any more excuses ? Lol
Hope you have another encounter with a Kestrel soon. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Thanks very much Snappy
I get those moments all the time ILR, in the heat of the moment camera settings go out the window
Yes you needed a faster shutter speed although that is uninteresting effect that shows the motion blur. What shutter speed do you normally set at when you go out?
Hi Scozmos having not been out for over a month due to a chest Infection I had the camera set for shutter prioritiy and was so looking forward to getting out again, the excitement of seeing a Kestrel so close to me I forgot to check the settings and must have assumed they were Ok. It was only when I got home and downloaded the photos that I realised I had dropped a clanger. Lesson learned. Glad it’s not just me Scozmos Lol
