Making the best of the apples and nice photos.
It's amazing what will eat apples, particularly this time of year, when food can be scarce.
I've seen foxes eat apples from trailcam footage in the garden, squirrels, and of course, quite a few birds will have a bite or two, three, four or more....

That's probably the best place to leave apples, once they've fallen, they get bruised and fermentation starts. Though that is the natural process, apples to fall etc etc.
As for the fieldfare, there's always hope.
