A sunny day at Suffolk Wildlife Trust's Black Bourn Woods and there were a few Dragonflies about, mostly Broad-bodied Chasers and one Male Emperor which I couldn't capture.
I spent ages trying to get them on the wing over a small pond, saw what looked like aerial mating from the Chasers followed by the female hovering over the water and dipping her tail, laying eggs I assume. That did give me chance of some inflight shots at last.
Best Wishes,
Trevor
my first proper Close Up of a Damselfly this year
I didn’t crop this one. I zoomed in with the Camara and took a picture. She was resting
Male and Female Common Blue Damselflies Mating
These are the first Damselflies I have seen this year. Hopefully I will see plenty more.
On the same day I spotted the Green-veined White Butterfly in our garden I saw these Dragons and Damsels by our little pond.
My first Four Spotted Chaser of the year
Large Red Damselfly.
And what I think is an Azure Damselfly.
