I got a new camera a few weeks ago (Canon EOS 250D) and today got a new 55-250mm lens. Well when I say new lens, I mean a 2nd hand one from EBay. Now I just need to do a lot of experimenting to see what the best settings are for good pictures. First few tries are attached.

I'm soooo jealous of your sparrowhawk photos, what superb timing, and don't worry about the gore, it is nature doing its job.
The other photos, you're certainly doing a fabulous job with brilliant photos all-round.

The sparrowhawk was back again this afternoon, and once again starling was on the menu.
Just one pic for the moment until I have a proper chance to look through the hundred or so pics I took.
Two other pictures of the sparrowhawk from the other day. I captured quite a few good shots, but I'm conscious that they might be a bit upsetting be for some people. I have to admit I didn't particularly like to watch the sparrowhawk go about it's business and felt sorry for the starling, but I kept reminding myself that it's just nature and that I shouldn't intervene.
On a happier note, one of the squirrels was snooping about the garden this afternoon, so I had to get some pictures of it. I had disturbed it this morning when putting out bird food, and scared it away from a plant pot that it had been looking it. This afternoon, it was back at the pot and it looks like it eventually found what it was looking for earlier. I suspect a hazelnut it must have buried a while ago.
