Went for a walk today in the hope of spotting a kingfisher on one of the many industrial millponds that are abundant around Sheffield. They're often a good place to head after heavy rain as the rivers are too fast flowing and murky for fishing and so kingfishers go for these clearer fishing spots.
Anyway was well pleased to follow this little chap trying out several perches before launching into the pond and coming out with a fish which he proceeded to finish off by clouting on his perch!
How lovely such a colourful bird to brighten the day..
Hope you don't mind, but I zoomed to get a better look at it's catch

Click on the link on my post above and compare the shape of the fish and the eye, on the two zoomed in photos
Lovely photos of the kingie, not always an easy bird to capture, well, for me any way.
