Help Identifying Spider

Hi AH, it may be a Garden Spider (also known as a Cross Spider because of the markings) but I'm not an expert on spiders so wait for other opinions.

I'm no spider expert either but I'd go along with Hazel's ID of Garden Spider (Araneus diadematus)

I also say Garden Spider. There isn't much else to confuse it with as the cross of spots on its back is very distinctive. Also September is the time when they attain their large size and show particularly well.
