Finally got another chance to take photos at the nest site - I still have lots to learn about how to use my camera setup so these aren't as pin sharp as others' I've seen on here!
This is one of the parents taking off with a bit of pigeon to keep for itself!
Here's the parent feeding the two chicks:
Both of the above taken with a Canon EOS 7D (Mk1) with a 100-400 lens and 1.4x extender - which means I was stuck with manual focus... I'll have to upgrade to the Mk11 body!
Here's the two chicks on there own - this one taken with a Canon EOS 7D attached to my Opticron ES80 field scope - again, manual focus but does get you right in there...
Hoping to get more shots as they grow...

I agree with Wendy Pippa, I would trade my photos taken at the church for these in their natural surroundings.
You would probably get better shots with a 7d2 but being where it is the distance may beat you regardless of the gear unless you have something like a 600mm lens.

ArtyPip said:Thanks Alan & Wendy... :) Looks like a 7d2 will set me back around £750 (second hand), and a 600mm Canon lens is around £2k... :) Not sure my budget can stretch quite that far... I'll do some research on the non-Canon brand lenses to see if some savings can be made, but would be interested to hear what others think, if they've used those lenses...?
go for the 7d mkii and try that with your 100-400 and 1.4 TC. That will be equivalent 560 f8 lens and will autofocus with centre point and expanded centre point. Which 1.4 TC is it - mkiii would be best as it will have the latest software but just try whatever you have and see what that gets you first of all. Are you handholding or using a tripod?
