While bird activity was generally quite at Middleton Lakes on Sunday 15 July, one little egret, no, one hungry little egret, was busy.
Just come in to land
One the hunt....
Gotcha...
Gulp!
Gone!
Now, where's the next catch?
Gotcha….
Going, going......
Time to move on.
Good sequence shots Mike, you were in the right place at right time.
Great captures, Mike. Little Egrets are very photogenic birds especially when they are active.
lovely photos Mike; the L.Egrets always look so skinny as they come in to land with those outstretched long wings as in the first shot !

Thank you, it was certainly worth the pain to capture the action, and the beauty of the bird.

Thank you Hazel. They are an elegant looking bird, even if they are a relatively recent addition to our bird life.
I recall seeing my first little egret on St Michael's Mount back in August 2002, when they were only just inhabiting the south coast.
