Thank you for those tips. Next time I'm out with my camera, a Canon 750D, I'll set it up.
Incidentally, I've set my spot focus to centre sensor only, which seems to help obtain crisper moving images, and I rarely use Sports mode, because the focusing tries to find an object to focus on (which can be anywhere within the evf), rather than the desired subject.
So I set the ISO to Auto, the exposure to TV to a suitably fast shutter speed, typically 1/2000 (light permitting) and multi-frame shooting.
My next stage is to shoot using RAW, something I've not experimented with as yet.
