Hi - I joined today because I would like to share my pictures of a lovely pied wagtail...very friendly and posed for some time outside my window.
I do hope that I have got the right breed, but cannot link it to any other. I havent seen him/her for two days now....he is a loner and I had read that they gather in large groups?
I also saw a song thrush yesterday but did not get a photo.
I would be pleased to have anyone's comments?
Ta....Jeannie
Hi Jeannie
What a great couple of photos.
Not had a visit from one yet.
Quite obviously you have got the little rascal identified Hope you have some more
Nigel.
Thanks Nigel
.... although do feel a little sad that I have not seen him for a couple of days now. Glad I named the breed correctly as I am new to this. I have more of him....he just loved sitting looking thru my window...so cute! I'll let you know if he reappears.
Jeannie
Hi Jennie, they are lovely photos.
We have a couple of Wagtails who visit regularly, I am in Devon. I have only ever seen them down here in ones or twos so I can’t comment on them gathering in large groups. There will be someone on here who is far more clued up on their behavior and will enlighten us on whether they group or not.
Build it and they will come.
Hi Jeannie and welcome to the RSPB Forum
Love your pictures of your Pied Wagtails - so cute
Yes I agree they do get friendly if you spend time with them.
Regards
Kathy and Dave
He looks as though he'd like to come inside for a warm. Nice pics.
I've not heard that they gather in flocks during the day although I remember a news report that they come into a town (can't remember where) to roost overnight. I've had two in my garden recently but haven't managed to get them both in the same picture.
Here's my regular visitor.
Oh by the way you are now entitled to membership of the WAGS club ( an in joke) but you can't become a committee member unless you've had a grey wagtail in the garden.
Welcome to the forum
Tony

Thanks Tony....most honoured to be invited to join the Wags Group!! Will have to keep eyes peeled for the Grey now!
Oh and your pics are really good too....soo friendly these chaps....I do miss him as haven't seen for a couple of days....and thanks for your welcome too!
That's nice when they are in twos..and good to know that they visit regularly, so entertaining! ..I look forward to learn more about them.
Thanks Kathy and Dave...hope to see more of him/them!
Welcome to the forum Jeannie,
Your photos are really lovely, especially in the snow. I do hope he comes back. Mine hasn't been for 3 days either.
Welcome also the WAGS club. Take no notice of Tee-Jay. He is only the tea boy as his pied wagtail only has one leg. Buzzard is the chairman, and Squirrel is the important one because she has 2, a pied and a grey.
Cheers, Linda.
