I live in Argyll and have a juvenile or female cuckoo coming to the garden each day , I thought cuckoos were supposed to migrate ? We normally hear them every spring as we live on the edge of hundreds of acres of Forestry Comission Land. I thought at first it was a Sparrowhawk as they do visit occasionally but it now comes to feed each day and particularly likes apples . The blackbirds are not happy with this new guest as apples are a big favourite with them as well.
Hi Ducky, thankyou for uploading your video.
I'm sorry to have shattered your dreams of it been a Cuckoo. However you're very lucky to have a single Fieldfare visiting your garden.
The Fieldfare is another bird that is becoming a scarcer visitor to the UK.

Nature Is Amazing - Let Us Keep It That Way
Nevermind Ducky,
I'd be chuffed having a fieldfare even. Your garden sounds fantastic. You could charge us all a small fee to come & watch the birds, you'd make a fortune.
Hi Buzzard
Thank you for your link of the mentioned Fieldfare. They are beautiful birds and are very distinctive grey/bronze colouration of their feathers.
Last time I ever saw a Cuckoo was years ago when I was a child. I have heard a Cuckoo at Marston Vale, and in Menorca so two times in 2009. So I can heard them, but have not visually see them on the move.
Ducky: They are very rare birds, and are only living in pockets of the UK. The reason for their decline is the decline of the bird nests they invade with their unwanted foster family.
Brenda: Like you I would love to see a Fieldfare, and in the years to come. In 10 years when I am still bird watching/retired, and a paid up member of the RSPB..... I want to say I have seen a Cuckoo once more. Might be 61 years old but hopefully I have shaken off a lot of demons forever.
So we all have a lot to look forward too here.
Regards
Kathy and Dave
