Has anyone seen any yet? I often see flocks of them flying over our rural office in the autumn / winter but not spotted any yet!
Can't wait for them to arrive in Shropshire! Determined to get decents pics of them this year!!

Nothing in my part of Shropshire - also drove down to Tamworth a couple of days ago keeping my eyes peeled (husband driving) but nothing there either. Hey hope that leg is ok.
Hi Lucy
Thanks for your comments about my leg. You do not know how much you miss your freedom to move if you do not have it anymore. {sad} luckily, my foot is almost 100 per cent once more {smile}
I think it will be interesting to se how this thread pans out, and who ends up with Fieldfares and Redwing - first and foremost on this Forum

Pleased to know that your foot is nearly fully recovered now!
Still not seen anything yet either!! Getting colder now 2.8c when I left this morning! Brrrr! It will indeed be interesting to see when they do turn up! I'm sure it has been earlier than this in the past.
Still none seen at the Lodge yet but i did see a flock of thrush like birds whilst driving back to Bedfordshire from Ely at the weekend. Unfortunately due to the essential keeping my hands on the steering wheel i couldn't get to my bins!
Have kept bird records for about 20 years and had a look last night and Redwing and Fieldfare sightings and strangely most years my date for seeing them both in Shropshire and Montgomeryshire is 14th/15th October - earliest record is 12th October I really thought I saw them much earlier than that so my eager anticipation these past weeks has been wasted! Still watching tho!!
Lol Lloyd! So many distraction for driving birders!! ;-)
That's really interesting Lucy! Well done for keeping a record too! Wish I was as thorough! I too thought that they were around earlier! Shouldn't be long now anyway by the sounds of it!! Woohoo!
I thought it was about time I started posting - I've been lurking for a while!
Anyway Redwings - they're here! My colleague Steve (who is also our County Bird Recorder), was up on the pinnacle of the Sand Hills overlooking Sandy and the Lodge and saw 25. News of large numbers arriving in the northern isles yesterday, promted him to look...and there they were. A great time of year to see birds moving - with the first hint of a frost this morning, we may get more very soon.

Excellent news Richard! Will have to look up a bit more often from now on!
Hi Richard - no better way to stop lurking than to give us the news we've been waiting for! My eye strain will get even worse now!
STILL WAITING!!!!!!!
Haven't seen any on the local patch, weather conditions now more favourable with North Easterlies, Am aware that they have been seen along the Norfolk coast........with many other Scandinavian migrants so shouldn't be long now. Have 3 days off work after today so will hopefully get out and about.
