Nightjars a Churring!

Nightjars have arrived on our local Commons and Heathland, Two males heard churring tonight just before dark.Other reports of hearing and sightings of these unusually stunning birds have come in from across parts of Devon too. A bonus was had on arrival home, i found an adult Hedgehog scurrying about on my drive. It is now safe in my garden!.

I am down to lead an evening walk to see Nightjars and "roding" Woodcock in a nearby woodland next month,we had better stock up on insect repellent before then.

Good Luck Seaman..... hope you hear and see them both....

The Woodcock will almost be a given if it is a fine night,we had 3 crouched down in broad daylight last Tuesday. They were squatting down on the edge of "white grass" in the middle of Lofthouse Moor in the middle of a heavy hailstone shower. We may have to get members to wave white handkerchiefs Morris Dancer style to attract the Nightjars, they say it works !!
