i think they are field fare but can anyone tell me for sure?
My house is right next to small open park area and these guys turn up in my tree in the 3's then ground feed - bout 4 set of 3
pictures attached ( i am a beginner on this!!!)
yes they do look like Fieldfare, there is a lot over here this year, I've had a few.
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Hi wiseoldbird and welcome to the forum.
The top photo is a Redwing. You can just make out the red on the side and note the pale stripe over the eye.
In the middle photo you have a Fieldfare in the centre with Redwings on either side.
In the bottom photo you have a nice shot of a Fieldfare. Note the nice grey head.
They are all members of the thrush family which only visit the UK in the winter. They have been coming into gardens and parks much more than normal this year because of the severe weather.
Hope that helps.
TJ

Hello Wiseoldbird, as you see, you have joined a friendly group. Keep the photos coming.
Hello Wiseoldbird and welcome from me also. Great photos there.
Well done on the i.d.s T.J.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
