I saw it in my Garden a few times throughout the day, I managed to get a couple, or three photos of it.
It was alone, and eating heartily from my new bird table and the ground, sparrows eventually chased it away...
It has a slightly mottled breast, sort of black band from beak straight down the throat. When it flew up it had those white banded tail feathers, bit like a chaffinch tail, like a fan.
Also had a slight 'tail bobbing' action. I have never see one like it before, garden or otherwise.
Ive blown up the pics.....
Any idea..?
I think now he has found a good restaurant, he will come back. My little pied is coming still, but has swapped from back to front garden. Good luck with the video.
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Sparrow
Finally got my proof to be upgraded from an honorary member of WAGS to a fully "fledged" member. I hope the committee members with their posh wags won't look down on us humble members.

An update on my 'umble pie.
He was back again today and wants to take over - chasing off chaffinches, robins, tits, blackbirds and even a magpie. He ain't very 'umble!
On the upside, while watching the new kid terrorise the neighbourhood, we did get a brief but very good view of a bullfinch in the sun on the fence. Stunning but a very fleeting glimpse, bet the next time I see him will be whipping the blossom off our new apple trees ..

Mine is still with me. 6 days now, so can I count him as a regular? My little pie isn't aggressive, at least not yet, but he isn't afraid of me and gives me a very stern look sometimes. He has swapped from the back garden to the front as there is less competition there.
TJ you are now a fully "fledged" member. Congratulations, but you have to start at the bottom as the tea boy. Beautiful photo.
Fittmonk - excellent to see a bullfinch. Never had one in my garden.
Well done TeeJay, Lovely picture.
Great photo TeeJay. I notice your pie is standing on one leg. Is that a habit of wagtails as my grey does it as well?
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Not just wagtails. I have noticed several birds doing it at the moment. I thought it was to keep as much body as possible out of the snow!!!!! Stand on one leg and tuck the other under some warm feathers!!!!
Ah, but my grey always stands on the right foot and raises the left, never the other way around. (See, he's "my" grey now LOL)..
LOL Squirrel. Maybe he had a stork for a great grandfather!!!!
