I saw it in my Garden a few times throughout the day, I managed to get a couple, or three photos of it.
It was alone, and eating heartily from my new bird table and the ground, sparrows eventually chased it away...
It has a slightly mottled breast, sort of black band from beak straight down the throat. When it flew up it had those white banded tail feathers, bit like a chaffinch tail, like a fan.
Also had a slight 'tail bobbing' action. I have never see one like it before, garden or otherwise.
Ive blown up the pics.....
Any idea..?
You will have to be elected by all the other members. Buzzard is the chairperson, although I'm not sure he knows this. You certainly have my vote - absolutely brilliant photo. Puts my pathetic efforts to shame, although I was trying to make poached eggs at the time! Are you cheating, or did that bird actually arrive in your garden this last week? There is no snow.
Sorry about the TOGS club disintigrating!
Cheers, Linda.

I'm going to have to try and photograph mine tomorrow if it turns up.!
Oh dear. I have to confess this was taken just before the first snowfall. I should have read the rules properly. I didn't mean mislead the membership election commitee. I hope this won't disbar me from future selection.
I don't think the wags could find my grass at the moment. It's covered in about 8 inches of snow.

OK TeeJay, just because yours has only one leg, you are in. But you have to buy the drinks when we have our meetings!
I reckon that makes 6 of us now.
I thought they had popped their little tiny clogs with the cold Sparrow, but they came back. I am relieved, was very worried all morning.
