I think this is a coal tit but my friend says Great tit. Can anyone tell me which one it is. Thx
I think a Great Tit, took this one of a Coal Tit today.
definately a great tit - coal tits have a white patch on their heads
Yep, a Great Tit. The black stripe down the belly is one of the ways to tell it from Coal Tit.
Ah I see the difference now. Thanks Maria.
It wasn't untill I joined the BGBW that I really noticed this little fella, I always thought it was a Blue Tit with a white stripe down the back of his head. I'm lucky enough to have Long Tailed Tits, Great Tits, Blue Tits and Coal Tits visit my feeders. What other ones can I expect?

Depending where you are, you could get Marsh Tits. They look like this:
You can tell them from Coal Tits by their browner tones, lack of white wingbar, no white on the back of the neck, and much smaller bib. They are localised and becoming rarer, though. Rarer still is the Willow Tit which looks VERY similar to Marsh Tit but can be told apart with good views. Then in the Scottish highlands there is Crested Tit. Bearded Tits are reedbed birds so very improbable in gardens - and they are not true tits, but then nor are Long-tailed :)
Thank you Aiki, I Live in Southampton so there is probably not much chance of getting any of the ones you mentioned.
P.S Lovely photos.
A Coal Tit obligingly showing his ID card :-)

Oooh, I've never heard that name for Marsh Tit before - nice to learn something new :)
We get Great-Tits, Blue-Tits, Coal-Tits and Long-tailed Tits in our Garden, but no Marsh Tits or Willow Tits. However, recently I got my first ever shots of a Willow Tit at Eyeworth Pond, Fritham, New Forest National Park. Here's a picture of it with a Blue Tit.
