Pheasant, Ghost or something else???...

Right here's one for you all...

What's this pheasant looking bird creeping around near me??

Unfortunately for him/her this is right in the middle of Buzzard country so don't fancy it's chance much!!...(bet it's praying for snow! LOL)

Cheers

Higgy

  • Have just seen two totally white (not pale) albino (or leucistic) pheasants in the valley above Dovestones Resevoir nr Oldham. Both had red wattles, so does that make them male? Hope the sometimes resident peregrines don't enjoy a bit of Pheasant!

Yes. only the males should have red wattles, but I think the fact they are red does mean the birds are leucistic and not true albinos.

Although I have not seen white pheasants, I have seen several pale and odd coloured birds towards Binn Green Car Park too, so they must have put some specially bred white ones in the flock at one stage.
