We saw this little fella this afternoon in a hedgerow. I have never seen such a tiny, tiny mouse before. He was much smaller than the ones in my garden (and no, they aren't rats!). Can anyone tell me what he is?
Cheers, Linda.

a good laugh is better than a tonic
Thanks folks - still no clearer! All I can say is it was really small, really small, and it looked like a mouse rather than a vole. However, I don't know one mouse from another!!!
I thought woodmice had huge ears, like Micky Mouse?
Hi Sparrow
House mice are grey looking as yours is with small ears
As you say yourself....Wood Mice have larger ears compared with the size of their heads, and they are much brown/grey looking on appearance.
I think your mouse is a juvenile HM too.

Very young Wood Mice have smaller ears... I think going by the bright warm brown fur and bug-eyes that this is a young Wood Mouse :)

we have wood mice living under our patio, this one has the same look ,so I think its a youngster. They can get quite tame, especially if you feed the birds!!!
Thank you everybody. Your suggestions are much appreciated.
If it helps here's an adult Wood Mouse and Bank Vole side by side
Every day a little more irate about bird of prey persecution, and I have a cat - Got a problem with that?
