I'm increasingly finding these creatures superb subjects for photography, but, despite combing the guides, I appear to be pretty useless so far at ID. Help much appreciated please.:

Nearest I've got for the moth is Mother of Pearl
The butterflies are Small Tortoiseshell, Green-veined White and Ringlet. The moth is (I think) Udea lutealis.

Has a quick trawl on UK Moths and you are (as ever) absolutely spot-on. Udea Lutealis it is; apparently one of the most common species in the UK, and, for the second time today, it's one which is NOT in the RSPB's guide!
I was a bit shaky on the Green Veined at first, but a shot of the under-wing is definite confirmation.

Your welcome I managed to get a couple but i am relieved Aiki came to our rescue on the moth, the last shot of the butterfly with the sings closed is great, the eyes show real detail.
