Hi all Scruff back again. Thought I'd share these photos of a Siskin caught in flight last spring
Sorry a bit blurred but enlarged them on the computer
Hi Scruff, and welcome back!
I love your sequence of pictures - well caught. Siskins are so fast!
Cheers, Linda.

Nice pics, I was delighted to see 2 siskins in my garden the other day - 1 female and 1 juvenile. Yet to see a male
'Dip a dee dah, dip a dee ay, we're not seeing any birds to-day...'
Haven't seen them in the garden for a while. Are they spring/summer visitors?
They're winter visitors to most parts of England, a resident in most areas - have a look at the map:

Thanks Tern I live in Central Scotland so having checked the map it seems I should see them all year round but haven't done so for months now. At one time they seemed to have taken over from the Goldfinches, but they've made a comeback and the Siskins have gone.
Hi Scruff
I always please when I catch anything at all, even just to ID the birds later.
This set of pictures tells the story and allows us all to share that moment with you - thanks.
Robert
Hi great pics of the siskin. Aren't they wonderfully agile wee birds. Well captured, very impressed!!

Excuse wobbily dyslexic spelling!
I also live in Central Scotland and siskins are regular visitors to the garden. Last week we had a large flock of around 7/8 in the garden all fighting over the feeder.
Smashing wee birds!

Love your sequence of photos of the Siskin as the birds shows it natural flight moving through the air.
Your camera shutter speed must have been set fast to keep up with the birds movement
siskens do like feeders all year around and you are lucky if you get them most of the time.
Let us know if you see this little beauty once more in your garden or any other area close to where you stay.
I am from Edinburgh myself. and I saw Siskens most of the time in Central Scotland - they seemed to be everywhere.
Since moving to Bedford in 2007, I have seen them at the reserves and not on my garden feeders - sadly
Regards
Kathy and Dave
