Neither of which look anything like it....
I'd have guessed "Black headed gull". But a positive human confirmation would be welcome. Sorry if this question is very basic!
Well it's not what your app suggested thats for sure. I'm leaning strongly towards Black headed but I am wondering if it might be a Bonapartes Gull. It's the black bill and the fact that black of the head is different to BH & Med - hopefully someone else will dive in with a more accurate offering

It might be a photo effect but the OP photo the black looks blacker - rather than the dark chocolate brown of a BH but the shape and area covered is larger I think
you could well be correct, but of course the lighting , angle etc makes all the difference
