Please can you identify Black and grey bird with red head and white bars underneath

The birds on the small Perspex feeder are Goldfinch. there favourite food  are Sunflower seeds  and Niger Seeds 

The bird in the tree above the feeder looks like a collared dove.

I'm beginning to think it may now be a Great Spotted Woodpecker either male or juvenile.

Stacyl - do a google search 'Great Spotted Woodpeckers in flight' and see if any of those images suit.

Yes, I guess it is a little early for juveniles, but regarding adults - we only have the viewer's interpretation of what they're seeing (with accompanying drawings which can't be exact representations) so guessing is all we have left.

I think the top bird is a Wood Pigeon I'm sure there is a bit of white collar showing but nothing there that even vaguely matches the original description in my opinion

Just a thought regarding re possibility of an escaped exotic - scarlet headed backbird?

If we are starting to look at exotic escapees I think this could be a long thread. The suggested Scarlet Headed Blackbird is a magnificent bird but if someone saw this I reckon even a poor scribbler like me would make a half decent sketch of it

I'm sorry that I wasn't clear the photos are goldfinches on my bird feeder just to illustrate because the bird i saw was trying to get at the feeder but was too big for it. The other pic is just because I saw that one in the tree (wood pigeon)
And couldn't see it properly. The bird I saw was very clearly not a wood pigeon and I'm very familiar with their appearance. There's lots of them around here. I have never seen a bird like this before which is why I'm so interested to identify. And I've had my window bird feeder for many years. There has been an explosion of goldfinch population around here. I started with 3 and now they're 22 birds! I could make a thread just for them alone. Their society and behaviour is different from other birds. And I tried Niger seeds but the goldfinch wouldn't touch them and now only ever eat sunflower hearts! I have a few varieties of small birds visiting so I put out some other seeds and mealworm. I'm not an expert but the drawing is accurately what I saw but I didn't have room on the page to show how long it's tail was but it was about 3 inches longer .
