Gull

At Scrabster harbour in the very north of Scotland. A bit different I thought from herring gull. Eider for size comparison.

That well-defined black tip to the bill, the size and the northeast location make me wonder if it's perhaps a first-year glaucous gull. Don't trust my judgement though - wait for a weightier opinion.

I think Chris could be right with Glaucous Gull, we have had them in the past at local gull roosts but not for a couple of years

Thank you again Pete. I was able to watch this bird for quite a while. Still quite a few trawlers visit the port so it possibly followed them south.
