I am no expert, but it looks like a hawks head moth chrysalis to me.

Certainly a moth but I'm not sure I'd want to guess which one. Did you find it below ground, near any particular plant ... ?

Moth, bit hard to say as quite a lot pupate in the ground or buried under leaves. If you want to 'grow' it on you can try and replicate the conditions you found it in and place it in a cool, dry space with something to climb up when it emerges at the appropriate time. Don't keep it in the house as this tends to result in them coming out at the wrong time of year
