Sorry there is no photo but I was driving in Irvine in SW Scotland when i saw a small flock of starlings. One of the birds had markings which gave it the appearance of a mini hooded crow but with the lighter parts almost cream coloured rather than grey. Is this type of colour variation known in starlings or could this have been an entirely different species of bird?
To second Chris' suggestion, it does sound like a rose-coloured starling. ebird.org/.../rossta2 Do those pictures look like what you saw?
It is a separate species
