Duck ID?

Saw this pair of ducks on the Chesterfield Canal yesterday - can't find anything like them in my bird books - any ideas?

It looks like a bit of a hybrid to me with some domestic Mallard in the mixture. Waterfowl are notorious for interbreeding, I'm sure they do it to confuse bird watchers
