Saw a bird today that I think might have been a swallow. I’ve never seen one before so I just wanted to check beforehand, it seemed a little small (bird was finch sized). Might be pretty obvious. Didn’t see too much but I will keep it short so here’s a list:
Where: Rural village flying around about lamppost height
Size/Shape: Finch size with long curved wings and long tail bits
Colour: Mostly black with lighter grey

You posted a few days ago asking about a bird that looked like a swift. I reckon that was a swallow as I said at the time. Still sounds like a swallow.

Ellis, you should take a look at this video from the BTO. It might help you to distinguish the species when in flight. I'm a bit surprised they didn't include Sand Martins but you don't tend to see them from a garden.
