I think you have a lovely little Yellowhammer there; I don't see these birds very often but I would say perhaps a female (thanks to Richard for the male ID)
It's definitely a Yellowhammer, but with the amount of yellow on its face I'd say it's a male.
However the females have more of a facial stripe, but just to confuse matters male winter plummage also tends to show a stripe.
That's 50/50 so far, lets see what others say.
