Had a morning walk around my local park in Glasgow and spotted this mysterious water bird amongst the regular suspects of mallards and tufted ducks. The normal special sighting at this pond is normally a very shy little grebe but I'm almost convinced we have just spotted a Mandarin (possibly female?!). I'm still a fairly beginner birder so would be really grateful for a second opinion. I've got some photos below. The first two were taken through the binoculars.
I do know we have Mandarin ducks in Scotland but the only location nearby I am aware of was at Loch Lomond.
Thanks in advance,
It looks possibly a female mandarin duck, but I'm no expert.
