Juvenile Stonechat or Meadow Pipit?

I saw this flitting in and out of the gorse at Ipley Cross in the New Forest last week, in very close proximity to two adult stonechats, a male and female. There were no other birds around and as it was so close to the two adults - indeed at one point it flew off and returned with them - I assumed it was part of the family, i.e. a juvenile stonechat. However, following comments from other bird-watching friends and having looked at it again in conjunction with my RSPB guide I'm starting to wonder if it was actually a juvenile meadow pipit - but would it mix with stonechats in this way......or perhaps they've adopted it ?! Hope you can help - I see there was a similar query on here several years ago! Thanks
